Paediatric Complex Care Nurse – Portsmouth Area

  • Location: South Hampshire
  • Pay Rate: £40.00 LTD or £32.79 per hour (PAYE)
  • Hours: Monday to Friday School Hours (in a school setting), Saturday Overnight 20.00-08.00

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Paediatric Complex Care Nurse to provide specialist care for a 13year old with complex medical needs. This is a highly rewarding role where your expertise will make a significant impact on the child’s well-being.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tracheostomy Care
  • TPN Feeding Experience
  • BIPAP- Ventilator Experience
  • Suctioning – Perform both oral and deep suctioning to manage secretions.
  • Medication Administration – Accurately administer and manage multiple medications via an NG Tube.
  • Oxygen Saturation Monitoring – Ensure oxygen levels remain stable and within a safe range.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience in paediatric complex care, ideally with infants.
  • Proficiency in epilepsy care, TPN feeding, suctioning, and medication administration.
  • Ability to remain calm and act effectively in emergency situations.
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centred approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality care
  • Be proactive with managing behaviour & de-escalation
  • Ability to communicate clearly & effectively through verbal & written means.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work within a small team
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of care
  • Must be trained in Safety Intervention, PMVA, PBS or Control & restraint
  • Experienced in working with Learning Disabilities & ASD 
  • Buccal Training & PEG Training would also be beneficial although not essential

Requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK

  • 6+ months of personal care experience (hospital, nursing home, or home care)

  • DBS on update service or willingness to obtain one
